DescriptionThe potted flowers motif on this quilt was designed by Ruby S. McKim and published in Capper’s Weekly Quilt Block Service in 1929 and the Kansas City Star in April 1930. It was also included in McKim’s 1931 book, 101 Patchwork Patterns. The maker of the quilt, Jennie Pingrey Stotts, exhibited her own creativity by combining McKim’s design for the blocks with a border created by McKim’s successor at the Kansas City Star, Eveline Foland. Stotts also added an orange stripe across the top of each pot.
