He was a pragmatist who responded to consumer markets by offering several styles of portraiture at different prices. Less familiar are the landscapes that the artist produced for a short time in East Boston, and in Baltimore, where he resided briefly during the 1850s. Such \u201cfancy pieces\u201d reflected the taste for the sublime in landscapes, and were almost certainly based upon prints or academic paintings."},"names":{"label":"Names","value":"William Matthew Prior"},"displayDate":{"label":"Date","value":"(1806\u20131873)"},"id":{"label":"Id","value":"151249"}}]}
