Frame: 5 1/8 x 4 3/4 x 1/2 "Cut paper and watercolor on paper; stamped brass matGift of Robert Bishop1985.28.20(including construction) Bust-length papercut silhouette of gentleman presenting left profile. Profile and sweep of shoulder hollowcut, white stock and board shawl collar of frock coat left in paper. Details of hair and costume painted in watercolor: smooth cap of hair ending in wispy bangs, folds of neckline painted with delicate grey strokes, black ribbon tied in now around collar. Edge of green vest visible beneath shawl collar of black frock coat, with four buttons down front. white wash applied over background and shirt. The swhole mounted on black paper. FRAME: Wooden frame with mitred corners. Deep groove four sides 1/8" from face edge with embossed brass mounted on face of frame and flanged into groove. Cove molded oval 2 5/8" x 3 3/8" at widest points contained within beaded linner border 4 1/16" x 3 1/4". Rosettes in four corners on stripped ground. 1/4" vove all around surrounded by outer border of overlapping acanthus leaves.
