Almon\u2019s artistic practice, developed over fifteen years, recalls the aesthetic and themes of his mentor, Elijah Pierce.In 1987, Almon commented: \u201cOne of the things that I\u2019m hoping will happen to my work is that it will go beyond the visible eye. In other words: How does a human being put the inner person into a wood carving? I don\u2019t know, but that\u2019s what I\u2019m meditating on now. And I hope to go one step beyond the three-dimensional and step into the inner person.\u201dThis search seems to find its way in Rev. 1, alluding to the Book of Revelation, also known as the Book of the Apocalypse or the Apocalypse of John, which is canonically the last book of the New Testament. It outlines the Revelation of Jesus Christ communicated to John through prophetic visions. John is instructed by the \u201cone like a son of man\u201d to write all that he hears and sees, from the prophetic visions, to Seven Churches of Asia.
