Many of the individual pieces are rewoven into themselves as a metaphor for all the invisible work we do in our daily lives. I used staples to help secure the strips during the weaving process. As the project unfolded, the staples came to mean security. The piercing nature of stapling became a metaphor for the price of security. Each piece was hand stitched using black thread reminiscent of doctors\u2019 stitches. One rarely gets through life without some sort of scars, either physical or emotional.At the end of the year, I added a patina using pigment ground from the dirt dug at my farm. A machine-stitched grid was also added to represent the disregard we show for the earth when building on every conceivable location. ","Object information is a work in progress andmay be updated with new research.
