This accurately rendered architecture and its surroundings likely evokes the artist\u2019s visual environment, of which he produced many variations from various viewpoints over time. The size and sturdiness of the cardboard on which it is executed suggest that it is an unfolded box of matches (which he regularly used), and the darkness recalls the atmospheric power of Victor Hugo\u2019s watercolors. Interestingly, the subject depicted shows similarity to another one in AFAM\u2019s Blanchard-Hill Collection (1998.10.15). It might be the same building, covered with white wood boards and surrounded with trees and fence. The paper support used in this latter example generates a very different ambience and sensibility"},"edition":{"label":"Photo Credit","value":"American Folk Art Museum"},"medium":{"label":"Medium","value":"Soot and saliva on cardboard"},"geographyPlaceregion":{"label":"Place/Region","value":"Boise"},"media":{"label":"Media","value":[{"mediaURL":"https://collection.folkartmuseum.org/internal/media/dispatcher/26557/full","mediaDepartment":"Object Photographs","mediaType":"Image","mediaId":"26557"},{"mediaURL":"https://collection.folkartmuseum.org/internal/media/dispatcher/26558/full","mediaDepartment":"Object Photographs","mediaType":"Image","mediaId":"26558"}]},"title":{"label":"Title","value":"Untitled (Farm House with Yard)"},"geographyCity":{"value":"Boise"},"textEntriesWebsitedisplaytext":{"value":"Object information is a work in progress andmay be updated with new research.
