Independent Order of Odd Fellows Bundle of Sticks
The bundle of sticks, sometimes called the bundle of rods, is a symbol unique to the Odd Fellows. Lodges used these prop bundles of sticks in their First Degree to signify the “importance of concentrated effort,” demonstrating that those who stand together are stronger than one man standing alone. The W. E. Floding Company of Atlanta offered a “nicely finished” bundle of sticks for sixty cents in one late-nineteenth century catalog, while adding gilding and “extra finish” drove the price to ninety cents.
