With his full head of black wavy hair, piercing gaze, and impeccable attire, he is presented as a confident, successful man. He is positioned in front of grand windows that open out to a view of an azure sea and a hilly town reminiscent of Kalymnos, the Greek island where Skyllas was born. Skyllas advertised himself as a portrait painter specializing in \u201cpure realistic paintings\u201d but was a commercial failure.
