His main source of income was derived from building small boats, but he was renowned for making duck, goose, brant, and shorebird decoys. After 1900, and over a period of almost forty years, he produced hundreds of decoys annually, in a variety of grades. He often incorporated found wood into solid and hollow-body decoys, using the natural qualities of the woods to enhance the forms.Stacy C.
