Description: Found in 2002 in a thrift shop in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, this collection of dozens of miniature tin can creatures has no known provenance. With bodies made of snipped and twisted tin encrusted with beads, baubles, costume jewelry, and other plastic miscellany and embellished with decorative touches of paint, the creatures look like insects and crustaceans from another planet. Ranging in size from less than one-half inch to six inches in height, the objects are anything but delicate and petite.
