Untitled (Family History Quilt)
Hystercine Rankin began making quilts when she was 12 years old to help keep her ten brothers and sisters warm. Rankin continued this work for her own family, providing quilts for each of her seven children. In her later years, she made “memory quilts” such as this one, using appliqué and embroidery to create works of textile art that relate family stories and scenes from her life.
