Description

This comical cowboy is the second life-size trade sign made by French-born metalsmith Rene LaTour. The figure stood briefly outside LaTour’s shop on 200 Yonge Street in Ormond Beach, Florida. LaTour spent a lifetime working in the metal industry, including a stint at NASA before opening his own shop, in 1959. He used 26- and 28-gauge galvanized steel to fashion more than a dozen cheerful clowns, ballerinas, and other figures drawn from popular culture.
